AE-C400 / EW-C50 Setup

Get an AE-C400/TE-C400 or EW-C50/TW-C50 central controller updated and ready for its settings file.

What you'll need

A Windows PC with an Ethernet port, plus an Ethernet cable
Internet access on the PC for step 1
The controller's serial (DP) number. It's shown on the Software Update screen in step 4.

Step 1: Download the software

Go to the AE-C400A product page on mitsubishipro.com. Under Software, download both of these:

Step 2: Install the Initial Setting Tool

Extract the Initial Setting Tool zip file and open the folder.
Run AE-C400A_ToolInstaller_V***.exe. The *** is the version number.
Follow the installation wizard to install both the Initial Setting Tool and the BACnet setting tool.

Before you open the program: You need to install the certificates first, or the Initial Setting Tool won't run.

Press the Windows key and type ae-c400. Run both certificate installers:

Step 3: Connect to the central controller

Plug an Ethernet cable from your PC into LAN1 on the central controller.

Next, give your PC a static IP address so it can talk to the controller. The controller's default IP address is 192.168.1.1.

Step 4: Update the firmware

Unzip the firmware folder you downloaded in step 1.
Open a web browser and go to https://192.168.1.1/swupdate/
On the Software Update screen, enter:

User name initial

Password Init + the controller's serial (DP) number without the dash

Pro tip: Copy the password and paste it into a new text document (Notepad works). You'll need it several more times during setup.

Click Choose File (some browsers say Browse) and select the firmware file from the folder you unzipped.
Click Start Update.

This takes a while: The update takes quite some time. Don't power off the controller or unplug the cable while it runs. Now is a good time to start on step 5.

Step 5: Create the settings file

The Initial Setting Tool loads a settings (.dat) file onto the controller. You can make that file in two ways:

Manually in the Initial Setting Tool, or
From your DSB project using the Config Tools on VRFTools. Upload the .dsbx file and download a ready-to-load .dat with every group name and M-Net address already filled in.
